Charmed Review

One of my many addictive shows at the moment is 'Charmed', a popular American series that's aired on E4. E4 is one of the channels I watch the most, as when I was younger I used to watch it for 'Friends', 'Scrubs' and 'Veronica Mars', so I pop it on when I'm on the laptop, eating or doing work. So I stumbled across this one day as nothing else was on, and kept doing so. That's where I started to get glued to the three sisters lives, especially Alyssa Milano's character; Phoebe (in the middle) who gets all the drama storylines. I am yet to nag my friends and families into getting me the series as I've started viewing half way through. Another interesting aspect is Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan's (Paige Matthews-the half sister) ever changing hair styles and on the odd occasion; outfits. This can range from nymphs, goddess' and genies. Yes, at times the characters and storylines can be cheesey (sometimes the acting too) but sometimes a bit of cheese is good. However, there is a lot of action scenes, well most of the time someone leers at another, the camera cuts and someone's on the floor.

Aside from that and some outdated special effects (which isn't totally their fault) everything else makes up for it.

It's quite refreshing to watch from the comfort of your own home, and as it's an 'older' American series it has some umph to it still, especially the magic element. As there are a lot of supernatural series now, it's good to watch some older versions.

If you give it a chance I'm sure it'll grow on you too! With humorous punches and for me, Holly Marie Combs (Piper Halliwell) and Brian Krauses (Leo-the angel) relationship that draws me in. I also want the 'charmed' necklace; Triquetras (right).

Rating: 9.5/10
